Public Health Nurse services at Lumby Health Centre
Prenatal
Referral to classes in Vernon.
1:1 counseling as needed.
Pregnancy Outreach Program
Liaison with Pregnancy Outreach Program in Vernon. Offer information, monitoring of health through pregnancy, prenatal vitamins, pre and postnatal information and $10 weekly food coupons for women at risk.
Weight and See Program
Fridays 10:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. in Lumby
For mothers and their babies up to 12 months of age. Babies weighed, breastfeeding help, information on feeding, immunization, safety, becoming parents, family planning, community resources and how to quit smoking.
Youth Sexual Health
Daily free condoms, pregnancy testing/counseling and access to reasonably priced birth control and sexual health counseling through the Options for Sexual Health (OPT) Clinic in Lumby on (Wednesdays, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm). More info at Options for Sexual Health.
Communicable Disease Prevention & Control – Adult Clinic
Visit Immunize BC for information on publicly funded vaccines and immunization schedules for:
- B.C. Adults
- Seniors
- Individuals at High Risk
TB Testing is offered free of charge at the Lumby Health Centre for those who are deemed medically at risk. Effective April 2, 2013, clients who require TST (TB Skin Testing) for work, school admission, immigration requirements or travel must now contact a travel clinic. Fees will apply, as this is not a publically funded service in BC.
